Great fights, great times in Santa Barbara & testing soon

Winning is definitely not everything, and for my fighters and students fighting with passion, courage, and Bushido (how life should be lived) is much more important than the “W”. With that said, “after” dinners, parties, and life are much more fun after a “W”.  Here are some pictures of my Family, both immediate and extended.  I love my life!

For Pit students physical conditioning is a very important part of our system.  Along with the martial arts techniques (striking, BJJ, wrestling), each Pit student must show progress in his/her physical fitness.  Here are some of the physical requirements necessary for the student to be eligible to “test” for their next belt.  This is done during The Pit’s pretest week.

Push up/squat/sit up/pull up…

level I: 10/10/10/5 each minute

levels II, III, IV 20/20/20/10, 30/30/30/15, 40/40/40/20 respectively.

Then they have to do The Gate Keeper, which consists of…

Row 500 meters, 30 bag slams, 30 box jumps, 30 pit sledges, 30 4 punches/sprawl/head kick, 30 double unders… within 13 minutes for level IV, 15, 20, 30 minutes for levels III-I

Then comes the Horse stance… low and deep.

Level I: 2 min; Level II: 4 min; Level II: 8 min; Level IV: 10 min
