Sometimes discipline gets a little tough at THE PIT
Testing began with months of Jr Instructing and ends with one week of intense workouts and drilling. This past weekend, our eight potential black belts spent the night at THE PIT Compound to endure two grueling days of PIT training. Everyone started the week strong and we are sure that come the end of the week, we will have eight new Lua Black Belts to join THE PIT. We are proud to train the best of the best, and these students are no exception.
Christina Riddering, John Hackleman, and Luke Riddering
Luke Riddering will make his MMA debut April 5th on Elite XC. As one of the few Black Belts under John Hackleman, Luke started at THE PIT over a decade ago and can be noted as the first member of John’s PIT Kids program. Back then, since a kid’s program wasn’t established at THE PIT, Luke endured intense, hard core workouts along side adults training at THE PIT. Now, Luke and his wife Christina Riddering, one of the top female fighters in the world, own PIT North in Atascadero, California.
Congratulations to Glover Teixeira for another win. Not only was it another win but it was another first round win. He easily stopped the always-tough Buckley Acosta one minute into the fight. Teixeira just overwhelmed Acosta for the TKO via strikes.
Since the ripe old age of three months, PJ’s father
Preston was parking PJ’s car seat by the wrestling mat so he could watch his father practice. “When he was a baby, we would grind foreheads to get him tough. I thought I might be doing it too hard until he started pulling my head into his even harder,” laughs
Preston. “I know he took in everything he saw because one day, he grabbed my arm and tried to throw me.” At three years old, PJ’s father took him to a wrestling club for some official training. “We are talking 700-800 shots a night, duck walks, crazy stuff, his coach is very old-school military style,” says
Preston. PJ is also a yellow belt in judo and has been going to The Pit working out with John Hackleman and Chuck Liddell. For full article click hereContinue reading
